    • Superb - even better than I anticipated

First, even with a sports suspension, rides much better (maybe it's due to the slightly wider back tires?) than my previous MB C300 (my SLC does not have the adjustable suspension either)...even with it being a 2 seater, there is so much more interior room, since there's no back seat to take up space...also, when you swivel your head to check traffic as you merge, there is much better visibility since there is no body frame between the front and rear windows...in addition, since MB will no longer be making (for the next few years anyway) a hard top retractable convertible, this soon to be rare body style MB will stay with me for a long time...yes, it's a 2018 but we found it at another MB dealer out of state with only 3250 miles on it, nearly completely loaded with options and priced about 20K below new sticker price (without most of the options this car has)...with a car like a Mercedes, the depreciation is rather large in the first 2 years, so if you can find such a car with low mileage and get it MB certified, that is the sensible way to go...I highly recommend some relatively low cost pre maintenance along with a tire and wheel warranty (good for the period for which you financed it - even if you pay it off early...also, no deductible and just replacing one wheel will more than pay for the warranty itself), by doing so, you literally ensure you will have no out of pocket expenses for several years... the body style of the SLC 300 is more aggressive (attractive) than the larger SLC 500 series (look at both from the front, you'll see what I mean)...I have the Harmon Kandon stereo (which I think is better than the newer premium stereo (Burmester) that MB is using nowadays), and, even lacking the depth of larger back speakers (since it's a 2 seater), I have adjusted the sound where it has a richer, deeper base than the Burmester did in my C300 (I enjoy the 'sensation' [feel] of the sound emanating from the speakers - never felt that with Burmester, evidently it was dampened way too much)...and don't misunderstand, I know the difference between that 'feel' of a quality sound versus distortion... I'm a strange MB owner in that I like good gas economy, and I get it with this SLC - around 43 to 46 mpg on interstates but closer to 27 locally (I don't drive fast, admittedly)...as with almost all MB paint jobs, the SLC has several layers of quality paint, and take care of it and the luster will last several years with little degradation (unless you let it sit out in the broiling southern sun all the time!)...IMPORTANT - do NOT use an orbital buffer on a MB (or any) car - it will leave swirls in the paint's surface (look at many cars at night under street lights from an angle, and you will see what I mean)...the only minus I might have is these SLC 300s do not have a 'hard drive' to load your older CDs into memory - but with Sirius XM, zip (flash) drives and bluetoothing your favorite songs via your smart phone, I have not really missed that hard drive...again, when the day comes I need another car, I will still keep this car, as it is such an unique car (and soon to be rather rare, with it being the last of the retractable hard top convertibles as far as I can tell under 100K in price)...one last thought - if (when) you decide to get a wind deflector, consider getting a more permanent plexiglass wind deflector that you can purchase with the MB logo (or AMG) that lights up in several colors to add a distinct flair (the inexpensive plastic wind deflectors can obscure rear view visibility at night or when raining)...quite often, I delay arriving home, simply because I want to cruise a little (actually a lot!) longer in my SLC with my classic rock and pop music serenading me - sometimes, you have to treat yourself at some point!, so regardless of your car choice, ENJOY YOURSELF!

As this was the last year of production for this model, I wanted one last shot at owning another. I had a 2015 SLK and thoroughly enjoyed the vehicle. The 2020 model is just a tiny bit different in the styling in both the exterior and interior. The addition of Apple Car Play was much welcomed. The engine is a bit more zippy and the 9 speed gearbox shifts very smoothly. The interior is amazingly quiet. Overall it is a hoot to drive.

This vehicle does not disappoint. Mine has all of the optional amenities. The power (I have the 3.5L V-6) and handling are more than adequate. It's quick and agile with the look and feel of a true roadster. This is my first Mecedes, but it won't be the last. I absolutely love the retractable roof. One beautiful ride.
