2020 Brings Big Changes for the Volvo S90

The 2020 Volvo S90 is a popular luxury midsize sedan with as much interior space as a full-size sedan and all the luxury you expect from the Volvo brand. The 2020 lineup is notably missing the T5 Momentum and T8 Momentum versions of the S90. Now, every S90 comes with standard all-wheel drive. The R-Design trim fills in with T6 or T8 powertrains.

The new lineup includes the base Momentum trim, the R-Design, and Inscription. With the Momentum, you'll get the T6 powertrain setup. With the R-Design and Inscription, you can choose between the T6 and T8 setups.

Options across all three trims include the Advanced Package, with full LED headlights with automatic high beams, self-steering parking, heads-up display, 360-degree camera, power-operated trunk lid, and high-pressure headlight cleaning. The heated steering wheel and heated rear seats represent an upgrade, as well.

Other options include integrated child booster seats, rear air suspension, and a high-end 19-speaker, 1,400-watt Bowers & Wilkins Premium Sound System.

T6 and T8 Powertrain Options

T6 2020 Volvo S90 models offer a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter engine that's supercharged and turbocharged. With 316 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, this all-wheel drive vehicle is an economical and powerful choice. The T6 model gets an EPA-estimated 25 mpg combined.

The T8 2020 Volvo S90 plug-in hybrid has the same 2.0-liter supercharged and turbocharged engine with an electric motor combined with a lithium-ion battery pack. This system provides 400 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle has a maximum electric-only range of 21 miles. It has an EPA-estimated MPGe of 60 when all power sources are in use. As a hybrid-only vehicle, it offers 30 mpg combined. It takes the battery about 2.5 hours to charge at 220 volts.

Plenty of Outstanding Features

The T6 Momentum trim level offers a panoramic sunroof, 12.3-inch driver info display, heated windshield washer nozzles, heated front seats, climate control, simulated leather upholstery, 10-way power-adjustable front seats with driver-side memory, Apple CarPlay^® and Android^™ Auto, and driver-assistance features.

The T6 and T8 R-Design trim levels add an appearance package that includes 19-inch matte black wheels, dual integrated tailpipes, and black mirror caps. The R-Design also features a Harman Kardon^® premium audio system, and lane-keeping assist, as well.

The T6 and T8 Inscription trim levels offer quad-zone automatic climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, powered rear-window sunshade, Nappa soft leather upholstery, 19-inch alloy wheels, front passenger-side memory settings, and walnut wood inlays.

Add a Luxury Package to the Inscription model to get a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated outboard rear seats, massaging front seats, and a nubuck headliner.

The Advanced Package, available with any of the three available trims, includes a head-up display, full LED headlights, and a 360-degree camera.

S90 Safety

Volvo has a reputation for providing some of the most advanced safety features available in the marketplace. Adaptive cruise control comes with Pilot Assist. With City Safety, you'll get low and high-speed collision mitigation, collision avoidance, and pedestrian/cyclist/large animal detection.
